This project worked with Southmoor, St Aidans and Thornhill Secondary Schools and Grangetown, Hill View, Hudson Road and Valley Road Primary Schools. The main aim is to involve private sector partners and other groups in a series of initiatives to encourage disaffected pupils to stay in school, to offer incentives to talented pupils to stay on into higher education and to work with pupils across the ability range to deliver improved academic results. The four main programmes delivered are Business Mentoring, XL Network Clubs, Basic Skills for Primary Schools and University Visits. Residents of NDC area and former pupils of local schools assist in delivery of the project. This project has now ended but the good practice learned remains and continues to be delivered in the schools.
