Work is soon to start on a multi-million pound project to give Hendon a major makeover.
Back on the Map is launching its largest ever project which will see over £5 million invested in lifting the appearance of a number of streets in the middle Hendon area. The project, called Transforming Hendon, will give a facelift to thirteen streets in Hendon by improving the fronts of properties and general appearance of streets.
Work will include repairing or renewing windows, doors, walls, roofs, gutters, chimney stacks, street signs, fences and gates. The scale of work carried out on the current condition of the building and what needs to be done to bring it in line with the rest of the street.
Regeneration specialist company Frank Haslam Milan (FHM) has been appointed to carry out the vast amount of work involved in the Transforming Hendon programme.
The firm, which has its regional offices here in Sunderland, is an expert at breathing new life into communties and already has a track record of success in the North East after completing community regeneration schemes with Your Homes Newcastle and the Gateshead Housing Company. Its work on Transforming Hendon is expected to begin this summer and it will be carried out over two years.
We'll be carrying out information events in advance of work starting on each street involved in the scheme to agree exactly what improvements are to be made.
