Connexions Tyne and Wear is a confidential advice, guidance and support service for young people aged 13 to 19 years and up to 24 years for people with special needs. It offers impartial advice and guidance. The support available is wide ranging and includes careers, education, training and employment advice as well as advice on health and personal development. Connexions (Sunderland) will soon sit within the newly established Children's Service and will be part of an Integrated Youth Support Service. (April 2008). The main target of the Service is to reduce the number of young people aged 16 to 19 years who are NEET (not in education, employment or training). The Service works in partnership with schools, college, training providers and voluntary and community agencies to achieve this.
